Rin Asagi may look like an ordinary office lady on the outside but she is actually a private investigator taking on any jobs, from finding a stray cat to infiltrating a high-security corporate lab. What's more, she appears literally indestructible, supernaturally healing any injuries and mutilations. Together with her partner Mimi, Rin delves into the darkest secrets of the society but the ones she hides herself are by far more sinister...

Hannah's comments: First of all, this animé had hentai and sadistrelated short sequences that I not at all expected of this animé. It seems to me that erotic things in a way build up the whole Mnemosyne. Except that, the story was quite interesting and not so common (well, immortality is quite common, but not in this way). After the first episode I didn´t catch the story, but later on, I had it clear to me. In general, there is a guy, who is chosen as the Guardian of Yggdrasil, who wants to be the immortal one, not only for some decades or so. His name is Apos. He reminds me about the blond guy in Neon Genesis Evangelion, when the "Adam-thing" comes up. The Adam-thing has got a point even here, in this series, but in a little more different way. Apos wants chaos in the world, he eats memories with pleasure and is a fully sadist.

Rin Asagi is immortal woman who has a detective agency and by an accident meet Koki Maeno when he is chased by bad guys. He has lost his memory, but when Rin helps him to find the company the bad guys come from, it comes to his mind what they have done to him; caught in a biological experiment, at that company. More and more as the Mnemosyne continues, you understand why Rin (and her collegue Mimi) are immortal. You get to know why they are obsessed by the so called angels. The company, tries to destroy Rin in all kinds of ways. But she will recover, only it takes time, depending on how much she is hurt. Angels and the immortal women on Earth are destined to each other, but for no good. Rin, for example, knows that if an angel eats her, she will die. The Angel (man) has a short lifetime, only 14 days, but has to eat an immortal woman to have the "children of Yggdrasil" continue living on Earth. Their lifes can only be taken if you take out their hearts. Their hearts looks like tiny glassballs ( as you might played with as a child). The Angels got blue shiny ones as for Rin, red ones. The women can be immortal once in a while if the spores from Yggdrasil tree, immortal, only one is enough, is sucked in to her body.

The story takes place in Sanjuku and Kyoto, mostly. Sometimes in Tokyo. We follow Rin over decades, from early 1990 to approx year 2050 and also when Koki Maeno got a son,Teruki who in return later on got a daughter Mishiho . When Mnemosyne more comes into 2010 and later, the more the details and story reminded me a little of Matrix. Much about the net and "what is the reality and the net". Every episode is around 45 minutes long. Honestly I think the animé had too much violance and erotic things. But the animation was good and I have seen worse animé than this one. I think it was good that each episode had a duration of approx 45 min and also that Mmenosyne had 6 episodes. I don´t regret that I have seen Mnemosyne, its complexity is good, though if I had known it had so much of erotic stuff in it, I had doubt to watch it.
