The story unfolds in another 'possible' modern age. The main characters are youngsters called "Kildren", who are destined to live eternally in their adolescence. The Kildren are conscious that every day could be the last, because they fight a "war as entertainment" organized and operated by adults. But as they embrace the reality they are faced with, they live their day-to-day lives to the full.
Hannah's comments: The drawings are in a way very typical Oshii, but still not. What I found which were typical, were the dog, the music and the lifeeless eyes of the Kildren. I donīt know really what to say about this film, itīs good but not. Those who have seen "Ghost in the Shell" can of course recognize parts of the drawings and a little of the story but I canīt understand why the film has to be around 2 hours long, the story is so slowly that I sometimes didnīt want to watch the end. Once in a while I felt I was playing a game because of the animation itself, but mostly it was nice to watch. all angles of shadows and small differences of the colours, smooth sometimes, hard sometimes. Donīt stop watching the film until the very end (after the endingtexts of the staff etc), because the most interesting parts lay in the last two minutes.
If you are an Oshii-fan or want to see a film which has smooth animation, watch it, otherwise, I recommend you first watch "Ghost in the Shell" or other animé.
